Five Reasons To Stay The Night In Boddington

We have watched the landscapes alter in the regions over the last three months. Currently, the pastures have gone from yellow to green, but there is still time to enjoy the peak season in the Peel.

Our little motel is located in the heart of Boddington, within walking distance of all local amenities. Families travelling from Perth to farther south, such as Albany, love stopping and bringing their kids to the Hotham River Recreation Park. Here’s a few more reasons to have a stop-over in Boddington:

  1. Hotham River Recreation Park - it's a whole day down by the river, complete with a cutting-edge play area, skate park, BMX ramps, and basketball courts. There's a café overlooking the recreation area where parents may relax with a cup of coffee as the kids play into the evening. It's the ideal time of year for outdoor exploration since the weather is neither too hot nor too chilly.

  2. Wildflowers and wildlife - if you're staying for a couple of days, there are several great places to see wildflowers. Dryandra Woodlands is ideal for nature enthusiasts, since it is home to WA's state emblem, our furry friends the numbats, as well as other native wildlife. Tickets may be purchased at Barna Mia to visit the woodlands in the evening and see a presentation about the area and the little nocturnal creatures. It's our best-kept secret out here, and it's definitely worth a visit. More info at the Parks and Wildlife Service.

  3. Hiking and picnics - you may wish to explore the Ranford Pool route once the weather begins to warm up. Ranford Pool is one of those hidden gems that only the locals really know about. It is one of the most lovely sites in the Peel Region for a picnic and a 4km return hike. This route follows the Hotham River from Lions Weir in Boddington to picturesque Ranford Pool. This section of the river is ideal for fishing, kayaking, and bird watching. More info at Trails WA.

  4. Swimming - back in Boddington centre, if you fancy a swim, there's a local outdoor swimming pool where the entire family can cool down, and there's usually lots of inflatables for the kids to play with. There are changing rooms, a kiosk, a grassy area, and a sheltered paddling pool for youngsters. The pool is open six days a week in season, (closed on a Tuesday).

  5. Eating out - if you stay the night, there are a few nice places to eat within a 30-minute radius: the Wandering Tavern, a small local tavern that serves food from Wednesday evening to Sunday evening with a really large selection of delicious food, the Quindanning Hotel, which often has entertainment and is a real old English pub in the country, and the Williams Hotel serves tasty local steaks.

Our motel offers nine family rooms that can be booked for a night, weekend or longer. Just call us on:  (08) 9883 9383 | boddmotel@bigpond.com | 55 Bannister Rd, Boddington WA 6390 | Follow us on Facebook @boddingtonmotel | www.boddingtonmotel.com.au.
